Mary Plantation spans 7 1/2 acres of fertile river ground with groves of ancient oaks twisted and bended through time as if they were speaking the untold stories of the love and life they witnessed through their centuries. Sitting quietly, one can hear the distant echoes of the past and feel a heartfelt devotion to Mary where many souls labored, lived and loved. Mary is undergoing a wonderful transformation with the recent addition of a beautiful meandering walking trail circling the plantation grounds and a charming wedding chapel.
Mary Plantation is located about 22 miles downriver of New Orleans on the East Bank of the Mississippi River in the city of Braithwaite in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana. The unique name of the parish is taken from the Indian word “piakimin” for persimmon. Just upriver of Mary is English Turn, a landmark bend in the Mississippi river.
Whether it’s an elegant garden wedding and reception amidst the breathtaking grove of ancient oaks, or a simple ceremony in charming Mary Chapel, Mary Plantation is truly a romantic, fairytale setting. Whether you’re considering an intimate or extravagant affair, the staff of Mary Plantation will work with you to plan and create the plantation wedding of your dreams.
